Transportation Solutions

Executing and processing transactions becomes more of an automated process. A consumer orders products and services electronically (online), uses a pin pass to make payments or uses a chipcard for identification. The application of these new technologies is winning terrain very quickly. Take the relative new technologies surrounding Radio Frequency Identification -or RFID- which is used in the OV-Chipcard (national public transport card) introduction in the Netherlands in 2010. Using it in the public transport sector is just one of many areas in which RFID is going to play a major role.

Implementing and applying these new technologies requires more than just innovation. It also means that businesses need a stable platform on which these new technologies and resulting products and services can be built. This means that so-called back-office and front-office systems have to be in place to support the implementation of various new technologies. Telexis offers experience as well as practical and innovative solutions to efficiently process electronic transactions.

Among its products and services Telexis offers solutions for front-office devices that can read and write to media that contain RFID technologies. Telexis not only supplies the software components that will enable the customer to read and write information on RFID chips but can supply the devices that are used for reading and writing. This will allow businesses to implement a solution that is made to fit their needs.

Telexis supplies communication and back-office solutions that allow an efficient processing of information from front-office systems (input systems) to transaction processing back-office systems. In this process we support a number of complex processes such as user authorization, order processing and third party billing.

Development in the transport branch

  • Within the transport branch the following trends can be observed:
  • Sharp increase in investments that are related to security and the implementation of tracking, tracing and access technologies
  • Increasingly congested roads make public transport an acceptable alternative (see report: Taskforce MobilitiesManagement)
  • Travelers request and need information that will make travelling easier and more efficient
  • The sale of tickets needs to be made more efficient and cost effective by introducing electronic ticketing and reservations for all types of transportation.
  • Application of RFID technology in air and sea cargo increases
  • Increasing self service for customers using the internet
  • Development in so-called Track and Trace systems using GPS for the transport branch
  • Pay-per-Mile concepts that charge customers per mile/kilometer driven
